My job interview adventures
I consider my job interviews as a learning experience. After graduating at college with a degree in Journalism I'm not that pressured to find a job because my parents didn't pressure me that much and if possible they want me to help with the family business. But I want to be independent and prove that I can earn on my own, I can tell you I'm good at being a confused kid.
Because we have this so called internet, finding a job is easy. I can't count how many resume I've sent but I'm going to tell you my job interview experience at Teleperformance and [24]/7, they are both BPO companies.
Because we have this so called internet, finding a job is easy. I can't count how many resume I've sent but I'm going to tell you my job interview experience at Teleperformance and [24]/7, they are both BPO companies.
Teleperformance in Magallanes is my very first BPO company that I have an interview but not my first job interview. So the story goes like this, My college classmate Ellah Pama and I decided to have a job interview at this recruitment office that I forgot the name and the interviewer told us that we will be on the waiting list and we might receive an email or text message if we make it to the top. And nothing to do for the rest of the day we decided to go at her place but not far away from a the recruitment office a lady approach us and ask if we are looking for a job and obviously we are.
She invited us to this another recruitment office, Nezda. There we wait for our turn to be interviewed and assign to our preferred location or company. Ellah and I separate ways because we are assigned to different locations. As I arrived at the location with the other applicants through the company's shuttle that fetch me and the other applicants, I started to fill out forms and wait to start the process. So I'm gonna cut and tell you that I made it up to the final interview and I can finally go home and wait for a call for when will my training starts.
But because I'm naturally lazy or I just realize why work if my parents are still there to feed me. Like duh?! They provided my education fund that costs like a hundred thousand a year so my expenses as a bum is nothing compared to it.
So I told my Papà that I didn't want to work that I will just help in the business and he agreed to it and will give me a monthly allowance. The time comes that I received a call asking if I want to proceed with the training, I said no.
And months passed I try to send resume at The Picture Company where I immediately receive a call for an interview at their office located in Ortigas. So I'm gonna also include my experience at The Picture Company. I was invited at 9am and arrived around past 9am.
Filling up the form that was given to me with the other applicants who are also applying for photographer and moments later four of us are called to have the screening interview where we are asked to introduce ourselves, answer a given situation regarding the job, and an unexpected way to end the interview where we must show a talent besides our photography skills. And FYI all four of us are girls. The first to volunteer did dance, next sing a song that I'm not familiar, third is a voice impersonation and I did go last with reading a short goth piece that I wrote because I'm pressured to do anything because I ain't got no talent in singing and dancing.
As I exited the building a lady approach me and asked if I'm looking for a job, Déjà vu, and I refuse but she insisted so I agree and follow her to a cafe where I was ask to fill out forms again and if I'm going to proceed and I said sure and the guy did contact their shuttle and while I waited there minutes later he handed me a milk tea.
I didn't expect that so that's a plus. Arriving at the location with a middle aged guy who also is an applicant, We are asked to hand over our id's in exchange for visitor's pass. As we waited for our name to be called thoughts running through my mind like "should I continue this?" "should I tell that I will cancel my application?" "what if I passed, will I sign the contract without my parents consent?" "am I ready to exchange my comfy life?" "this is your time to prove that you can be independent!" "time to prove you can earn your own money!" "FREEDOM!"
Chain of thoughts interrupted when my name is called with three other guys. There we are told that the screening interview will be the test of our English communication skills. We introduce ourselves one by one and asked by some follow up questions.
What I love about this job interviews is I really do learn from other people's experience like the guy I'm with the shuttle he happens to be a former griller at the Chic Boy restaurant and he also told during the interview the reason why it is going bankrupt and that's because of an inside job. And to cut everything short I did passed the overall exams and looking forward to a job contract signing.
FYI I am writing this every time I waited for my name to be called. I dunno why but I feel inspired to write at the moment. Im'ma tell you my furry readers that my parents will surely have something to say to stop me from having a job. Why? Because they want to leave the store with someone like a family member overseeing. "There must be a Stark in Winterfell."
As the guy who did my final assessment handed over and explained that I passed and good to go and keep my lines open for a notification for the contract signing I can't believe that am I really going to take this job? Like duh my parents will still earn more than my salary would be but this is my time to prove that I can have an effing job without their help.
I can't count how many times my parents told me that I can earn a lot in doing business rather than being the employee and that I hold my time whenever I want to work. We all know for a fact that business owners earn more than there employees. But my parents are kinda control freaks so that's why I'm really eager to find a job.
